Cabarrus County is rapidly changing, and it’s up to us to elect leaders who can shepherd the county through the current and future challenges, and ensure that we are building for and welcoming the next generation of community leaders.

This county welcomed me and my young family with open arms in 2009. However, the circumstances that enabled me to buy an affordable home, live close to our immediate family, and have a short commute to work are seemingly few and far between in 2026.

People are moving here for the same reasons that we all enjoy living here, but with the rapid growth and increasing affordability issues, the strain is being felt by families and individuals in every walk of life. Therefore, it’s imperative that we have leaders that are willing to tackle the growth challenges that we are facing, as well as plan for the inevitable population increase in the years to come.

I grew up in a loving and humble family in Caldwell County. My parents instilled in me the value of community and showing up for one another. They displayed those values through their work, as a Baptist minister and school nurse, and through various volunteer activities. I have worked in technology sales for my entire professional career, but through the lessons learned in the foothills of North Carolina and working in the private sector, I believe that now is the time for me to be a new kind of voice for Cabarrus County.

My campaign for County Commissioner focuses on delivering three main objectives for everyone in Cabarrus: (1) sensible, functioning government, (2) expanding our county’s housing stock, and (3) supporting sustainable growth.

First, we deserve a local government that is going to focus on the needs of everyone that lives here - no matter your age, income level, or race/ethnicity. Too many of our current leaders have lost sight of what they were elected to do, which is serve Cabarrus County. If elected, I will hold myself accountable and be willing to listen to all 245,000 citizens - not just a select few.

Second, North Carolina is one of the fastest growing states in the country, and the major metropolitan areas are seeing a majority of that growth. Per the NC Chamber, if Cabarrus County stays on its projected growth through 2029, we will be short almost 16,000 homes. The Board of Commissioners, working in lockstep with the municipalities, need to be focused on building a diverse set of housing that will meet the needs of our community. Whether it’s townhomes or duplexes that are ideal for a first-time homebuyer, or senior housing for those retirees that want to downsize, our county needs options for every type of buyer.

Third, we cannot outrun the growth issue. People are moving here regardless of whether we plan for them or not. Therefore, our county leadership must be strategic and creative in building sustainable infrastructure that will both meet the needs of the current residents, as well as plan for the next generation. One example would be to increase our public transportation options and build housing near where people work (such as downtown and North Concord); this would be a superb way to decrease traffic and strain on our roads.

In closing, me and my family have benefited tremendously from our decision to move here 17 years ago. My son has received a wonderful public education, my wife and I have built rewarding careers, and we’ve made friends that we truly cherish. I believe that everyone should have the same opportunities I had to build a prosperous life in this county, and that is why I am running for County Commissioner.
